History:
The Kolaran system consisted of a star with four planets located near the Romulan Neutral Zone. In 2378, Enterprise-E visited Kolarus III investigating an unexplained positronic energy signature. The planet was of Class M classification in a 1.2 AU orbit around the Kolaran star. Picard, Data and Worf used the shuttle Argo to transport to the surface, atmospheric conditions making it inadvisable to use a teleporter. There they encountered a reptilian pre-warp civilisation, who were possibly nomadic due to the arid desert conditions of the area visited. Apparently unfriendly, they used Jeep-like, all-terrain, four-wheeled vehicles to pursue the Starfleet officers. This would suggest that in a more hospitable part of the planet there may be a settled industrial community who build the vehicles and trade with the desert dwellers.
